Abigail Anne Tucker was born on the 22nd January in 1973, making her a
creative Aquarius. She began performing at the age of nine and soon began
singing. As an aspiring rock singer, she won the 1992 final of the
Australian TV talent show "New Faces" with a selection of classic cover
versions.
When Heartbreak High was getting off the ground in 1994, she was ideal for
the lead role of Jodie, the high-school student who's determined to make her
mark in the music industry. What was supposed to be a brief appearance and a
couple of tracks turned into 65 episodes and a spot on the soundtrack,
making Abi one of the favourites in the groundbreaking real-life Australian
drama. Her character’s relationship with Nick Poulos (played by Alex
Dimitriades) was a passionate affair, but not without it’s ups and downs.
Abi also released a CD single in Australia she had written called ‘Breathe
In’ which appeared on the soundtrack.

Following her departure from Heartbreak High, Abi took a break from the
acting business and spent a lot of time in the UK touring and working on her
music.
Abi made a guest appearance in Water Rats and joined the cast of Wildside in
1999, playing the role of Kate Holbeck, who ends up marrying Charlie, a
character played by Alex Dimitriades.
The year 2000 was a more productive year for Abi, as she was to be seen in a
few movies throughout the year. Abi appeared in the hit movie The Wogboy a
comedy film made in Australia that did extremely well at the box office.
Following this is the lead role of May in the movie Angst. She recorded two
songs for the soundtrack and movie, ‘Move You’ and ‘Home’. It was released
in Australia on August 31 and received rave reviews.
In July 2001 year, The Secret Life Of Us, a new telemovie began screening on
prime time TV as a two hour special. Following the success of this, the show
started filming late this year for a 26 part TV series. It is now being
screened in Australia as well as the UK and USA! 2 of Abi’s songs feature in
the official soundtrack released by Liberation records. She has also
released the double-A sided single ‘Everything/Everybody’ in Australia.
Latest news is that the second series has been given the thumbs up by
producers, not necessarily due to Australian support, but moreover due to
the enormous following in the UK. |
