Brett Ratner (born March 28, 1969) is a Cuban-American Jewish film director and music video director. He was born in Miami Beach, Florida.

He graduated from New York University (NYU) Film School.

In December 2005 website FilmThreat.com voted Ratner the third coldest and least powerful person in Hollywood behind scientologist couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, and just ahead of actor-turned-porn-star Tom Sizemore and singer Jennifer Lopez. Ratner reportedly earned his spot by constantly referring to himself in the third person, bearing an over-inflated ego and enduring a backlash from fans of the X-Men films who thought him unqualified to direct X-Men 3.
