Chris Bruno Biography

Born in the small town of Milford, Connecticut, Bruno attended college in Vermont, where he was an avid athlete. As a member of the ski team, he was competing nationally when he was sidelined by an injury. During his brief hiatus from sports, he auditioned for his first play, and was cast as the lead in The Mandrake. Although he was pursuing a degree in psychology, the casting led to a new and passionate interest in the arts. Bruno wound up transferring to the State University of New York at Stonybrook so that he could be closer to New York City for auditions. He was involved in numerous college stage productions while also playing college baseball, in which he established a number of school records (including a fastball clocked at 90mph).

Upon graduation, Bruno moved to New York, where one year (and several bartending jobs) later, he was offered a two-year contract on NBC's Another World. The experience proved to be priceless training, and also enabled him to continue doing Off-Broadway plays. Bruno was later nominated for a Soap Opera Award as Outstanding Newcomer, and was later cast in the controversial storyline of Michael Delaney on ABC's All My Children, which won an Emmy the year he joined the cast.

Bruno eventually moved to Los Angeles, where he began performing stand-up comedy at The Improv and L.A. Cabaret. After being seen performing by an assistant from one of the networks, he soon landed guest-starring roles on Suddenly Susan, The Nanny, JAG, and Jesse, and a recurring role on Alan Ball's series Oh Grow Up. In 1998, Bruno was cast alongside his brother Dylan on Lorenzo Carcaterra's dark and gritty cop show The Force.
