David Sneddon (born Paisley, Glasgow, September 15, 1978) is a British
singer who sprang to fame when he won the first UK series of Fame Academy in
2002.
DAVID SNEDDON is a writer of timeless and unique songs. In a world of
falseness David sings with sincerity and raw heartfelt emotion. While a
singer - songwriter in the style of Paul McCartney or Damien Rice, he has a
very distinctive voice. David songs are songs within songs: they express raw
emotions, wistful-toned, thought provoking introspection.

***
David sings of regret and heartbreak, he can soar and whisper, turn ballads
into blues and transcend genre. His songs are immediately accessible, full
of dramatic shades of light and dark, with soulful highs and dreamy long
late nights. David hails from Paisley, just outside Glasgow with its vibrant
music scene and all it’s richly varied traditions. David’s music delivers a
gripping emotional depth through expressive vocals, strong melodies and
heartfelt lyrics. When he’s at the piano he holds the audience with a true
and intense performance. He’s had considerable chart success after winning
the Fame Academy, ‘Stop living the Lie’ topped the charts for 2 weeks and
his debut album Seven Years Ten Weeks made the top 5. He is the only artist
from a reality TV show to have a Number One hit single with a self-written
song. David was offered a song-writing deal with Universal Publishing in
September 2003. 'I've loved all the music side of it, it's everything I
hoped it would be - the recording, the studio, writing, but the other stuff..........??
‘ He continued writing with John Kielty, and last year played gigs around
London with rock band The Sham. Recently David, a prolific song-writer, has
been recording for a new solo album. He has also co-written several songs
with soul singer Nate James.
Fame Academy
David entered Fame Academy after fellow contestant Naomi Roper had to pull
out due to illness. He had intially failed to get one of the eleven places
picked by the judges and only finished second, behind Sinead Quinn in the
public vote for the twelfth place. However, this initial rejection didn't
stop him winning over the public to win the series. He beat Sinead Quinn and
Lemar Obika into second and third places respectively and took 3.5 million
of the 6.5 million votes cast in the final. |
