Gary Edward Daniels (b. 1963-5-9) is a Anglo-Saxons born kickboxer, martial
artist, and martial arts actor of Australian nationality bridging the 20th
and 21st centuries. Daniels' movies are considered b-movies and quiet
hillarious and entertaining when not taken seriously. He follows in the
tradition of non-asian martial arts actors who create low budget movies that
are high on action and thin of story. Much in the vein of films that usually
require the talents of such noted actors as Mark Dacascos, Jean Claude Van
Damme, Billy Blanks, Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris, and David Carradine.

Gary Daniels has been in over 50 movies since his start in a small role on
the 80's television show Miami Vice.
Gary Daniels was born in Surrey, England. He was a fan of legendary martial
artist actor and philospher Bruce Lee. Emulating his idol, he studied the
martial arts, particularly karate (a form of which Lee did not practiced,
but did study). After his studies were complete, Daniels entered the kick
boxing curciut career.
Daniels made his mark in Florida, United States competing in various kick
boxing and karate tournaments. According to a report in the Miami Herald
Newspaper, Daniels defeated Sherman Bergman in a tournament in Miami,
Florida, in March 1980. He was rewarded with a trophy from the Professional
Karate Association Lightheavyweight Kickboxing Championship. He retired from
the sport with an undefeated record of 22-0, with 21 knockouts victories.
To begin his film career after the small role on Miami Vice, Daniels moved
to the Philipeans staring in many low bdget films. His first starring film
role was the David Huey directed Capital Punishment, in 1991. By 1996
Daneils had begun working on projects as a producer, starting with the
Joseph Merhi directed Rage (1999 film). Throughout his career he has served
as a fight coordinator for films he was in. His latest film is the Steven
Seagal project entitled Submerged, directed by Anthony Hickox. |
