K Otic Biography

Twelve young musical talents get the opportunity to receive musical training on the 'starcampus' over a period of three months. During the project a jury and a television audience decide who will go to the next round and who has to leave. Starmaker becomes one of the most popular TV shows on Dutch television. The twelve youths are supervised by producers (Adje Vandenberg, Tjeerd Oosterhuis), a singing master and various professionals from record companies. The twelve candidates are Anna, Bart, Bouchra, Martijn, Rachel, Sita, Stefan, Anuschka, Hessel, Lieke, Mendy and Ruben of which the first seven continued to form K-Otic.

The band's first single 'Damn (I Think I Love You)' is an instant success and enters the Dutch charts at number 1, the duet between Sita and Bart 'I Was Made To Love You' reaches number 2. K-Otic's first live performance is late February during the TMF Awards. Following that the band plays two gigs in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam in May. K-Otic's debut album 'Bulletproof' enters the album charts at number 1 in June. The single 'I Can't Explain' reaches number 7. From September onwards K-Otic goes on tour in the Netherlands during which they also play gigs in clubs like Paradiso in Amsterdam and Nighttown in Rotterdam. K-Otic is awarded a Top Of The Pops Award in the category Top TV Music Act. In December Sita leaves the band to pursue a solo career. Sita and Marco Borsato record the song 'Lopen Op Het Water' ('Walking on Water'), which is to become the official wedding song for the marriage between Dutch crown prince Willem-Alexander and his fiancיe Maxima.
