Percy Robert Miller (born April 29, 1967), better known as Master P, is a
successful rapper, producer, and is the CEO and founder of No Limit Records.
Master P was born and raised in the Calliope housing projects, New Orleans,
Louisiana. He attended the University of Houston and walked on to the
basketball team. Raised by his grandparents along with his four siblings, he
eventually moved to Richmond, CA with his mother in 1990. It was there where
he used a $10,000 check from an inheritance to open No Limit Record Store,
which eventually became his record label, No Limit Records in 1994.

Master P's debut album was "Get Away Clean" followed by The Ghetto Is Trying
to Kill Me; this was followed up with 99 Ways to Die, Ice Cream Man, Ghetto
Dope and 1998's Da Last Don. After an unsuccessful attempt to play pro NBA
basketball he returned to music with Only God Can Judge Me, followed by
Ghetto Postage and 2001's Gameface, which was the first release from The New
No Limit Records/Universal Records.
For his tenth solo album, Master P released a double-CD set, Good Side, Bad
Side in March 2004. In June 2005, Ghetto Bill (The Best Hustler In The Game)
Vol 1, Master P's 11th solo CD came in at #1 on the Billboard Top
Independent Album's Chart in its first week of release.
To date, Master P has been involved in the production of twelve
multi-platinum, ten platinum, and thirteen gold albums. He has earned
tremendous wealth, and Fortune and Forbes have listed him on "The 40 Richest
Under 40" (worth an estimated $361 million in 1999) and the "Top List of
Highest Paid Entertainers," respectively. He is also the father of
rapper/actor Romeo, formerly known as Lil' Romeo. Master P currently resides
in Beverly Hills, California.
Master P has competed with the Fort Wayne Fury of the Continental Basketball
Association, the NBA's New Orleans Hornets, Toronto Raptors and the
Sacramento Kings summer league.
In 1999, Master P made some appearances for World Championship Wrestling
with Konnan and Rey Mysterio Jr. He crushed a cake in the face of one of the
West Texas Rednecks, calling him "hillbilly boy."
Master P has financed, produced and appeared in several of his own movies
including I'm Bout It, as well as other big-budget films including Hollywood
Homicide as the owner of a nightclub and in Dark Blue with Kurt Russell.
Master P participated in the second season of ABC's Dancing With the Stars,
which premiered on January 5, 2006. His son, Romeo, was previously scheduled
to appear on the show, but due to an injury he received while playing a game
of basketball, he had to withdraw.
Master P quickly became a lightning rod for controversy on the show.
Refusing to wear ballroom shoes and often times looking uninterested in
dancing, he received some of the lowest scores from the judges. Despite his
belligerence (or perhaps because of it), he survived elimination in the
first three weeks of the show, due to the call-in and online voting from
viewers. On January 26, 2006, Master P and his partner, Ashley, received a
score of 8 from the judges, the lowest score ever given in the history of
the series. Many people speculated that due to his extensive fan base,
Master P would stay in until close to the end; however, on January 27, 2006,
he was voted off the show. |
