Petey Pablo (born November 13, 1978 as Moses Barrett III) is an African
American Southern hip hop musician from Greenville, North Carolina.
Pablo is an associate of record producer Timbaland, who had hoped to sign
the rapper to his Beat Club label, but by the time he was ready to begin
negotiations, Pablo had already signed with Jive Records. He made his first
professional recordings in 2000 for number of album tracks for the second
Timbaland & Magoo album, Indecent Proposal, which was delayed for release by
Blackground Records until late 2001, after Pablo had already become a
success on his own.

Pablo's first solo single was the Timbaland-produced "Raise Up", notable for
its unusual rhythm track and Pablo's frantic, Mystikal-esque verses. A
follow-up single, "I", featured a guest rap from Timbaland, and was a more
moderate hit. These two singles were included on Pablo's first album, Diary
Of A Sinner: 1st Entry, released by Jive in 2002. The following year, he
appeared on the song "Club Banger" from the Drumline soundtrack.
In 2004, Pablo with his second album, Still Writing In My Diary: 2nd Entry,
which included the Lil Jon-produced hit single "Freek-a-Leek". He was also
featured on Ciara's #1 single, "Goodies".
As of October 29, 2004, Petey Pablo ranked No. 3 on the world rapper charts.
By 2005, He was signed to Death Row Records and he is currently working on
his upcoming album "Same Eyez On Me." |
