Rusty Wallace was born on August 14, 1956 in
Fenton, Missouri and was named Russell William Wallace. His hometown of
record is St. Louis, Missouri but his current home is located in Lake
Norman, North Carolina. Rusty Wallace and his wife, Patti (his high school
sweetheart), have 3 children; Greg (01.24.80), Katie (11.13.84) and Stephen
(08.18.87). Rusty Wallace has 2 brothers, Kenny and Mike. Rusty Wallace had
his debut as a driver in 1973 at Lakehill Speedway near Valley Park,
Missouri. Since that time, he has produced an incredible record that
includes: 1984 - Winston Cup Rookie-of-the-Year and 1989 - Winston Cup
Champion. Rusty Wallace is also a licensed pilot and owns his own fleet of
aircraft.
The short-track expertise of the Missouri native follows him into the
Winston Cup ranks. A winner of more than 200 short-track feature wins, on
tracks all across the nation, Rusty Wallace has an unparalleled record on
the tracks less than a mile in length. In contrast, Rusty Wallace is also
noted as a top competitor at all of the tracks. His name is constantly on
the front burners of many media typewriters. As of April 29, 2001, Rusty
Wallace has won an amazing 54 Winston Cup races.
